WebThe tee line in curling is a line that runs through the middle of the house and is parallel to the hog lines and back lines. It runs from sideline to sideline and is 13mm (½ inch) in width. The tee line splits the house evenly into two equal parts called the back of the house and the front of the house. The tee line passes through the button. The playing surface or curling sheet is defined by the World Curling Federation Rules of Curling. It is a rectangular area of ice, carefully prepared to be as flat and level as possible, 146 to 150 feet (45 to 46 m) in length by 14.5 to 16.5 feet (4.4 to 5.0 m) in width. The shorter borders of the sheet are called the backboards.
