The sensor is a set size, so if you set your camera to a different aspect ratio (eg, 16x9), it effectively achieves that by cropping the image. Hence, fewer pixels. My iPhone 12 Pro Max is the same either 5mp or 9mp :/ doesn’t matter if it’s raw or live photo. Apparently if you shoot 4:3 it’s 12MP but 16:9 it’s 9mp.
